ERA Career Days were organized in 2017-2018 in 5 different Spanish cities – Santander, Zaragoza, Granada, Toledo and Bilbao. Each city made its own consideration of the needs of their specific region and coordinated different agents’ participation. The activities aimed to give as much information as possible to those that face career decisions. It was based on the idea that researchers should be better prepared while making any career choices and decisions. Five Career Days offered information about European and national funding opportunities for research and mobilities, professional alternatives to academia and information about essential skills and competencies of researchers with hints for improvements. There were 960 participants, mostly students in their last year of study or young researchers. Some of the topics of workshops included personal experiences of researchers not working in academia, how to write a non – academic CV, how to speak in public or how EURAXESS can help them. FECYT coordinated the project. EURAXESS is a pan – European initiative backed up by the EU, member states and associate countries.
