While your CV should be specific to your background and tailor to the job for which you are applying, there are several steps you can take to ensure you write an effective CV. Do some research into the culture of the organization to help you decide whether it is suitable.

Glossary in pills

CV (short for the Latin phrase Curriculum Vitae, which means “course of life”) is a detailed document highlighting your professional and academic history. CVs typically include information like work experience, achievements and awards, scholarships or grants you have earned, coursework, research projects, and publications of your work. You may be asked to submit a CV when applying for jobs in academia or a job.

CV general template

Here is a basic template you can follow when creating your CV. This template is from Canva, a very useful and easy-to-use design tool, which provides ready templates that the only thing that they need is to be filled from the interested one. This example is for a youth worker. 

Europass CV

Europass CV is a personal document that aims at presenting a citizen’s knowledge, skills, competences, and qualifications, as well as other personal data. The document has been designed by the European Council and has the same layout for all European citizens.
